About Me
Lin Duperron
My journey has not been straightforward. As a high school dropout with limited English proficiency, I faced numerous challenges. I was born in Québec City within the Roman Catholic patriarchal structure however, my formative years were spent immersed in the multicultural environment of Toronto, where I now practice photography.
I struggled with imposter syndrome and was a relentless self-saboteur throughout my adult life. Fortunately, fifteen years ago, a dear friend recognized my potential and encouraged me to pursue further education. That pivotal decision opened up a new world of possibilities, ultimately guiding me toward the art of photography, where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Photography Studies. I still struggle from time to time with my imposter and my saboteur, but we have all come to a collaborative understanding that allows my inner child to have fun creating art.
I am currently expanding my series titled "Indoctrination." Part of this series was exhibited with the Women's Art Association of Canada in the prestigious Digman Gallery under the title "Pandæmonium" in 2023. "Indoctrination" captures complex themes of good and evil, trust and deceit, and belief and ignorance, all presented through portraits that inspire reflection and understanding.
I am also proud to have received the Women's Art Association of Canada/Dixie Allen Scholarship Award for Excellence in Photography from Toronto Metropolitan University in 2020/21.
My series, "Beautiful Wrong," which explores plastic waste, was displayed at the University of Brighton in the UK during an exchange with Ryerson (now TMU) called "Emergence," where art and awareness intersected.
I invite you to visit my blog, where I will share not only personal stories—both past and present—but also a collection of my photographs. Additionally, I will provide how-to articles that will guide you through my artistic processes, from initial sketches to the final print, offering a glimpse into my creative journey.
